On November 2, Enstrom Helicopter Corporation participated for the first time in Internship Draft Day at Lambeau Field. Dozens of college students from Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula competed for a chance to earn scholarships, internships, and apprenticeships from more than 60 participating companies.
Despite its location just east of the Michigan-Wisconsin border, Enstrom is proud to be the first and only non-Wisconsin business accepted into the Northeast Wisconsin Manufacturing Alliance (NEWMA). NEWMA collaborated with Northeast Wisconsin Educational Resource Alliance (NEW ERA) to host the event.
The competition was structured like an NFL draft, but instead of grading the students’ skill on the gridiron, participants received points based on their level of participation in clubs, past work experience, GPA, networking skills, and interview performance. The top-scoring student earned the title of “#1 Draft Pick,” taking home an award presented by Green Bay Packers CEO Mark Murphy.
Participating students brought with them backgrounds in engineering, business, IT, marketing, finance, and more. When not hosting mock interviews, Enstrom Human Resources Manager Lisa Sundelius stayed busy interacting with these students and showcasing the many exciting opportunities Enstrom has to offer hard-working students both prior to and after graduation.
“I felt the students were serious about finding the next step in their path to building a career,” she said. “Enstrom Helicopter provides that next step, plus professional development opportunities and an amazing work culture.”
Enstrom’s presence at this year’s Internship Draft Day is part of a robust recruitment campaign. The company has immediate openings for skilled engineers, managers, mechanics, and more. Explore current openings at our careers page.
We strive for Enstrom to be a household name, even outside the industry,” Sundelius said. “Events like Internship Draft Day help get our branding out into schools and communities, boosting our potential to attract the best candidates entering the workforce.”
Enstrom representatives plan to take part in the competition again next year. For more information about this year’s Internship Draft Day, click here.
