After numerous years of designing, testing and pursuing certification processes, Continental Aerospace Technologies and Diamond Aircraft were presented with their FAA Validated Type Certificate for the CD-300 Jet-A Piston Engine on Tuesday at EAA AirVenture. Diamond Aircraft executives and dealers were ecstatic at the news as it was critical for the production and rollout of the DA-50 RG.
The DA-50 RG, which has been on a 25 city U.S. Tour, is the first aircraft that will benefit from Continental's announcement. Touting the most spacious cabin in its class with five (5) seats, this high performance aircraft is finished with a luxurious interior, Garmin G1000 NXi, Garmin GFC700 3-axis autopilot and yaw damper, and TKS known ice protection (FIKI) among a long list
The Continental CD-300 turbocharged engine is rated with 300 hp TOP / 270 hp MCP.
Diamond dealers in the audience marked the event with a champagne toast and rousing cheer. The aircraft will be on display at the Diamond Aircraft booth at AirVenture the remainder of the week. The U.S. Tour of the DA50 continues through October 1st.
