Piper Aircraft will open for factory tours for the first time since before the pandemic. Tours were suspended in March 2020 because of COVID-19 and will begin again at Piper's Vero Beach campus.
The complimentary factory tours are available every Tuesday and Thursday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and require prior reservations. The two-hour walking tour allows guests to view the process of manufacturing and engineering aircraft with a stop at the Piper Pilot Shop for exclusive merchandise. Take an in-depth look at the production line and see what 85 years of experience has led to for Piper.
Piper manufactures nine different aircraft models, like the multi-engine Seminole, the pressurized piston M350, the turboprop M500, the Pilot 100i, the Archer family and the flagship M600/SLS. Each model is engineered, manufactured and certified at Piper's Vero Beach headquarters. Piper has built aircraft at this location since the 1950s.Piper production line
"It's rare for a production facility like ours to open its doors to the public, but as one of the largest employers in Indian River County, we believe it's important for our community to see what we do here each day," said Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Customer Support Ron Gunnarson.
"With over 85 years of stellar manufacturing experience, we hope our community will take the opportunity to see what we offer not only locally, but to the aviation industry at large," Gunnarson said.
Piper celebrated 85 years in 2022. It was founded on Nov. 1, 1937 after William T. Piper, one of the heads of Taylor Aircraft Company, purchased the shares of the joint owner, Gilbert Taylor. The company was renamed and the Piper Aircraft Corporation was formed. The Piper Cub was introduced in 1938 and since then, numerous important models have flown with the Piper name.
Guests can once again enjoy learning what the production line has to offer. Tours are open now, book yours today.
