Sun Air Jets announced it has paired with Viasat to offer Ka-band connectivity in-flight Wi-Fi technology.
The company finished the installation of the unlimited-speed Ka-band on its G450 aircraft based in Austin, Texas. Austin is one of several remote management bases in the organization's network.
Viasat said the connectivity is made possible by the company's satellite network capacity, designed to accommodate current and future broadband demand from increasingly data-hungry applications.
"Viasat's high speed and high-quality Ka connectivity is at long last available to Gulfstream G450 aircraft operators," Business Area Director, Business Aviation, Claudio D'Amico said. "With over 90 percent of business aviation routes covered by our Ka network, our solution is a great fit for operators that want fast, reliable connectivity that matches the long-range profile of this aircraft."
"It has been very exciting to partner with Viasat and bring Ka-band in-flight Wi-Fi to this G450" Sun Air Jets Aircraft Manager MaKayla Gorski said. "We are delighted with the high-speed network and international capabilities in the short time the service has been active. We are always looking for opportunities to further the level of service we can offer to our clients, and this was the perfect occasion."
The new system was installed in December 2022 and is now operable. Viasat achieved the FAA supplemental type certificate for Ka-band in-flight connectivity on the Gulfstream G450 in December of 2022.
