Embraer receives STC for Phenom 300MED

Embraer's Phenom 300MED has received the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) from the FAA and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The Phenom 300MED is a Medevac solution for the Phenom 300. The STC was performed at Embraer's service center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The launch customer, Grandview Aviation, is an on-demand charter operator and will operate the new aircraft. "We are pleased to announce the certification of the Phenom 300MED by the FAA and EASA," said Marsha Woelber, Vice-President of Worldwide Executive Jets Customer Support andamp; Aftermarket Sales, Embraer Service andamp; Support. "The Medevac solution provides superior value, benefiting from a market-leading product such as the Phenom 300 series, combining its unique capabilities with a fully-comprehensive medical solution." The interior of the Phenom 300MED was specified by Embraer and developed and certified by umlaut, part of Accenture, an engineering services provider. Aerolite equipment was utilized in the interior development. Aerolite also developed the ICU specifically for the Phenom 300MED. Per the certification requirements, umlaut conducted an evacuation test to confirm that two fully disabled patients could be evacuated. The Medevac solution is exclusively installed by Embraer's service and support organization and is now available for new and in-service aircraft. The organization ensures a high-quality and reliable service experience, directly from Embraer. The medically modified Phenom 300 has low operating costs, good cabin pressurization, high mission flexibility, the latest in avionics, and speed and range capabilities. The Phenom 300MED has a cabin altitude of 6,600 feet so both crew and passengers may have more oxygen in the cabin. More oxygen in the cabin allows for a healthier flight experience, which is essential for medical staff and patients. Embraer and umlaut have developed a set of configuration alternatives for the new model. These alternatives include one or two stretchers, the option for an incubator as well as additional medical equipment. The aircraft also features hospital-grade trim and finishing. The Phenom 300MED is designed to quickly meet the needs of healthcare providers and patients, as a purpose-built Medevac solution. The plane functions as an executive and a Medevac interior, able to convert in as little as five hours. The Phenom 300MED was created in collaboration with other industry-leading companies. Aerolite medical equipment is integrated into the aircraft. The leader in engineering and design is known for the installation of Air Medical interiors. There have been over 500 Medevac interiors delivered and the company offers an ideal blend of mission-oriented equipment.
