She plays the flute -- and more recently piccolo -- in the top orchestra at her school, and has been part of youth orchestras around Seattle, Washington.FMA received 37 nominees from across the United States and Canada and selected Jovie after narrowing down the six finalists."For the past several years, I have been interested in aerospace, namely fluid dynamics and model rocketry, but since then, I have realized that what I like to do best is truly experience my accomplishments. So, I have turned to aviation, and becoming a pilot," noted Jovie. The future pilot will be attending Vanderbilt University in the fall, where she will major in mechanical engineering and minor in music performance, while still managing to get in her flight hours."Jovie will make an excellent pilot as she has proven that hard work, persistence, dedication, and passion works," said the FMA in a release. "Her approach to learning to fly will guarantee success."The Flying Musicians Association is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit corporation for pilot/musicians, spanning the globe, proficiency levels, and genres.
