Skye Aviation orders additional all-electric eFlyer 800 aircraft

Skye Aviation, a Colorado-based all-electric aircraft leasing company, will grow its fleet with two Bye Aerospace eFlyer 800 aircraft and the option for three more in the future. In July, Skye Aviation completed purchase deposits for 15 eFlyer 800s.Bye Aerospace, the manufacturer of the eFlyer 800, announced the program in early 2021 in response to the growing demand for all-electric aircraft with reduced operating costs and increased capacity. The eight-seat eFlyer 800 twin turboprop has a 65-inch-wide cabin for business transportation, and a higher density 12-seat configuration is being studied for commuter operators."We are excited to add more eFlyers to our portfolio, which, in turn, offers customers increased leasing options to serve a growing market," said Carol Johnson, Skye Aviation representative. "The transportation industry is witnessing a sea-change in travelers' preferences for small group, on-demand, urban air mobility options."Bye Aerospace is making sustainability a focal point of its current and future families of aircraft. The eFlyer offers five-fold lower operating costs, no CO2 emissions, and decreased noise. The company estimates the eFlyer will eventually eliminate the release of millions of metric tons of CO2 each year as deliveries begin and the general aviation fleet is replaced. The manufacturer is currently in the process of obtaining FAA Part-23 certification for the eFlyer 2 for professional flight training missions and the four-seat eFlyer 4 for air taxi, cargo, and advanced training uses. There are nearly 900 airplanes in the company's backlog over its three models of eFlyer aircraft.
