Sky Aviation Holdings Donates Aircraft to College

Sky Aviation Holdings presented a 1984 Diamond IA A073SA jet, with full engines and avionics systems, to the GTCC Foundation Tuesday, June 15. Valued at $225,000, the aircraft will be utilized within the Guilford Technical Community College's aviation programs.The airplane donation provides current and future students an opportunity to get hands-on experience on a full-scale aircraft and enhance FAA mechanic certification.In addition to the airplane, the Lexington-based company is also donating the fuselage section from a Diamond Jet with a full avionics package valued at $100,000, which will be utilized at the GTCC Aviation Center facility in the Aviation Electronics Systems Program.Sky Aviation Holdings opened Sky Aircraft Maintenance at the Davidson County Airport in October 2020. The full-service aircraft maintenance operation specializes in Beechjet, Learjet, and Hawker aircraft with service to jet engines and aircraft interior completions.Together, GTCC and Sky Aircraft Maintenance have been working to support the next generation of GTCC aviation students with internships and job opportunities.
