Piper Aircraft, Inc. has been awarded approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for its Pilot 100i trainer aircraft. The Pilot 100i enters the trainer segment at a competitive price point, is IFR equipped, and offers comparable durability and functionality to its stablemate, the Archer TX."We are eager to bring the Pilot 100i into the European market and provide flight schools with a progressively priced, proven trainer," said John Calcagno, Interim President and CEO of Piper. "With the growing demand for professional pilots, it is important that we bring to market a more affordable solution with optimal economics for operators to help schools manage their overall training costs."The Pilot 100i is priced at $298,900. Standard instrumentation on the aircraft includes the Garmin G3X system with GFC 500 autopilot, which offers all the advantages of an advanced glass cockpit without the costs. The Pilot 100i is powered by the fuel-injected, 180hp Lycoming IO-360-B4A which offers 128 ktas max cruise speed and 522 nm range with 45 minutes reserve.The Pilot 100's interior is simple, yet functional and was specially crafted to withstand the rigors of flight training.
