PARKVIEW HEALTH EXPANDS LIFE-SAVING CAPABILITIES WITH SECOND AW169 HELICOPTE PARKVIEW HEALTH EXPANDS LIFE-SAVING CAPABILITIES WITH SECOND AW169 HELICOPTER

Dallas, 12 March 2025 – Leonardo and Parkview Health today announced the execution of an option for a second AW169 helicopter with delivery expected in the second quarter of 2026, further strengthening the Parkview Samaritan critical care transport program after the first AW169 entered service in 2024.
Over the last 36 years, Parkview Samaritan teams have transported (by air and ground) more than 35,000 patients in need of emergency care. This acquisition will allow Parkview to complete the replacement of its AS365 fleet, ushering in an all-new era of advanced medical transport capabilities for the region. The AW169 is meticulously designed around a patient's critical care needs, making it the ideal platform for life-saving missions. Boasting advanced technology and flexibility, the AW169 ensures a rapid emergency response in critical situations.
“Adding a second AW169 to our Parkview Samaritan fleet reinforces our commitment to providing the highest level of critical care transport for our region,” said Chad Owen, director, EMS, Communications, and Flight Services, Parkview Health. “This advanced aircraft enhances our ability to respond quickly and safely in emergencies, ensuring our patients receive life-saving care when they need it most.”
The spacious cabin of the AW169 accommodates up to two adult patient stretchers, allowing medical professionals 360-degree access to deliver critical care. Additionally, it features seating for up to four caregivers and wide doors that ensure safe and easy loading and unloading. The AW169 prioritizes both patient well-being and crew efficiency.
Safety is also paramount on the ground, with high clearance of the main and tail rotor blades. When the rotor blades are fully stopped, an auxiliary power unit (APU) mode allows for the continued operation of heating/air conditioning, radios and electrical support for medical equipment. This feature can be particularly important to emergency response partners, like ground ambulances, on the scene of an emergency. The modern glass cockpit with touch screen devices allows the pilot rapid access to information and greater visualization and situational awareness. Onboard weather radar, satellite navigation and fully functional, four-axis auto pilot capabilities round out its features.
“The AW169 design is perfectly suited for both short and longer-distance inter-hospital transport and Search and Rescue (SAR) missions and we’re happy with the positive response in the North American market is showing for this new generation type," said Enrico Canal, Head of Leonardo Helicopters' Macro Area Sales N&C America, US Sales. “Even at high altitudes, making it an invaluable asset for Parkview Health Samaritan's life-saving operations."
Designed with the principle of maximum flexibility, the AW169 continues to provide all new capabilities to operators looking for an ideal combination of light helicopter cost with higher category performance, payload, and cabin space, all combined with comprehensive and ever-growing support and training services. Over 330 AW169s are on order today by operators in over 30 countries for the widest scope of applications including EMS, utility, VIP transport, energy support, law enforcement, disaster relief, firefighting, electronic newsgathering, and military duties.
