HELICOPTER SERVICES SUPPORTS VETERAN HIRING WITH SKILLBRIDGE APPROVAL

SPRING, Texas, Oct. 6, 2026 Helicopter completion and MRO provider Helicopter Services, Inc. (HSI) of Spring, Texas has announced the hiring of its first teammate via the Skillbridge military to civlian hiring program.
HSI is proud to support the men and women who have served our country and to help service members successfully leverage their military experience into meaningful careers in civilian aviation. The company welcomed its first Skillbridge teammate last month.
Through participation in the U.S. Department of Defense SkillBridge Program, HSI provides transitioning service members the opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on experience in a commercial aviation environment while building upon the technical skills, discipline, leadership, and work ethic developed during their military careers.
Helicopter Services Inc. became a Skillbridge-approved employer earlier this year and has always focused on providing the best rotorcraft services to its clients via its team of high quality aviation technicians.
For HSI, participation in SkillBridge is about more than recruiting. It is an opportunity to give back to those who have served while helping address one of the aviation industry's most significant challenges—the continued need for highly skilled aviation maintenance professionals.
"Our veterans bring an incredible amount of experience, discipline, and technical ability to the aviation industry," said Mike Crossland, General Manager of Helicopter Services, Inc. "SkillBridge gives companies like HSI an opportunity to help service members make that transition while allowing them to see how the skills they developed in the military translate into a civilian aviation career. It's good for the service member, it's good for our company, and it's good for the future of the aviation industry."
HSI believes the aviation community has both an opportunity and a responsibility to recognize the tremendous value veterans bring to the workforce. Their experience working in demanding, safety-critical environments aligns naturally with an industry where attention to detail, accountability, teamwork, and safety are essential every day.
The aviation maintenance sector continues to face a growing demand for qualified technicians. SkillBridge provides an important connection between an exceptionally capable military workforce and civilian employers searching for the next generation of aviation professionals.
HSI also recognizes that transitioning from military service involves more than simply finding the next job.
By introducing transitioning service members to opportunities in helicopter maintenance, avionics, inspections, aircraft completions, and other specialized areas of aviation, programs like SkillBridge can help strengthen the industry's long-term talent pipeline.
Participants have an opportunity to experience the day-to-day operations of a civilian FAA Part 145 Repair Station, work alongside experienced aviation professionals, become familiar with commercial maintenance practices and regulatory requirements, and develop relationships within the industry before completing their military service.
"We want service members to leave HSI better prepared for whatever comes next," adds Crossland. "Whether their next step is with HSI or somewhere else in aviation, if we can provide experience, mentorship, and a clearer path into the civilian workforce, then our work with the program makes an impact."
By investing in SkillBridge and hard working service members, HSI is investing not only in veterans, but also in the future of aviation.
With decades of experience, HSI’s completion and service work covers airframes from Airbus, Bell, MD Helicopters, Enstrom and other popular brands, in the company’s 25,000 square foot facility at David Wayne Hooks Memorial Airport west of Houston.
HSI also continues its growing involvement in air medical aircraft maintenance and completions.
