SKYTRAC Celebrates 40 Years
Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, September 22, 2026 – SKYTRAC Systems Ltd. (SKYTRAC), a global leader in satellite communications (satcom) and intelligent connectivity solutions, today announced its 40th anniversary of providing mission-critical satellite communications to the aviation industry. Founded in Penticton, British Columbia, SKYTRAC has grown steadily over four decades and is proud to celebrate 40 years serving the connectivity needs of aircraft operators from its home in British Columbia, Canada.
Founded in 1986, SKYTRAC began with a mission to track aircraft flying into the hills of the Okanagan Valley. Since those early days, the company has expanded well beyond tracking, providing end-to-end solutions for mission operations, including flight following, voice and data communications, flight data monitoring, and mission systems integration. Today, SKYTRAC serves more than 800 customers in over 100 countries, providing the critical data connectivity they need to operate in some of the world’s most demanding environments. From pole to pole, SKYTRAC’s equipment supports operations in oil and gas, aerial firefighting, emergency medical services, policing, search and rescue, and more.
Over the past forty years, SKYTRAC has celebrated several key milestones, including the launch of its first Iridium-connected terminal, the expansion of its staffing footprint across Canada, and the growth of its customer base to include local and global operators and key OEMs. All these milestones have helped the company grow into the 140-employee operation it has become today, with the driver behind these successes being SKYTRAC’s team. While SKYTRAC has grown and changed over the years, the core values of hardwork and innovation that the company was founded upon continue forward.

To mark the anniversary, SKYTRAC is hosting a local celebration with staff, key customers, partners, and local stakeholders in Kelowna, BC, which has been home to SKYTRAC’s headquarters since 2006. SKYTRAC is also sponsoring the local Apple Marathon, taking place in Kelowna on September 27, with several SKYTRAC employees taking part.
