EyeLights, AURA AERO and Adventure Pilot unveil APEX HUD: head-up display glasses for general aviation

Eyes out. Heads up. APEX HUD brings a new augmented pilot experience to AirVenture 2026.
Head-up display technology has a proven track record in military and commercial aviation, improving safety, situational awareness and cockpit efficiency. EyeLights, AURA AERO and Adventure Pilot are now combining their expertise to bring this technology to general aviation pilots through APEX HUD, a new generation of connected head-up display glasses.
The partnership brings together three complementary capabilities: EyeLights’ head up display hardware, Adventure Pilot’s iFly EFB navigation ecosystem, and AURA AERO’s aircraft integration expertise through its INTEGRAL platform.
APEX HUD is designed for owners and pilots of general aviation aircraft, from experimental aircraft to certified platforms.
The glasses feature the lightest design, brightest display, and widest field of view, while connecting with iFly EFB to support flight planning, navigation, and in-flight awareness. Pilots can customize the information shown in the glasses while planning and flying their trip.
APEX HUD combines advanced head-up display hardware with flight navigation data from iFly EFB, Adventure Pilot’s electronic flight bag application for VFR and IFR pilots. The glasses are designed to provide pilots with key flight information in their forward field of view, helping reduce heads-down time and improve situational awareness in the cockpit. iFly EFB is compatible with iOS, Android, and Windows devices.

As the aircraft manufacturer partner in the program, AURA AERO is working with EyeLights on the connectivity interface between the APEX HUD glasses and the INTEGRAL aircraft family. This integration is designed to bring selected aircraft data into the pilot’s forward field of view, supporting a safer, more intuitive and more connected cockpit experience.
APEX HUD is compatible with the Garmin G3X, with head-tracking capabilities for flight data spatialisation and safety. The product is currently being developed with Aura Aero and is expected to be commercially available in 2027.
“EyeLights is on a mission to bring Augmented Reality to the entire mobility market. Since 2016, we have become a leader in head-up displays for motorcycle helmets, with more than 30,000 riders equipped worldwide. Today, we are proud to extend our technology to the aviation community alongside Aura Aero and Adventure Pilot.” Romain DUFLOT, EyeLights Founder & CEO.
“Whether for general aviation, training or defense missions, our customers are looking for solutions that reduce pilot workload, improve situational awareness and make critical information immediately accessible" said Jérémy Caussade, President and co-founder of AURA AERO. "Together with EyeLights and Adventure Pilot, we are helping bring advanced head-up display technology to pilots, starting with the INTEGRAL aircraft family.”
