Axnes Unveils CPX Wireless Intercommunication System: A New Benchmark in Passenger Audio, Protection, and InFlight Experience

Atlanta, GA — March 10, 2026 — Axnes, a global leader in wireless intercom solutions with more than 30 years of proven aviation experience, today announced at VERTICON 2026 in Atlanta, the launch of the CPX Wireless Intercommunication System, a nextgeneration Passenger Address (PA) and Intercommunication System (WICS), providing state of the art hearingprotection designed specifically for passenger transport and mission operations, like offshore, helicopter tourism, air medical and VIP . Built and engineered in Norway, CPX delivers certified performance, superior comfort, and seamless integration into modern rotorcraft cabins.
“We developed CPX to meet the highest operational, safety, and comfort standards,” said Axnes Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Klaus Fruehwirth. “This system sets a new benchmark for passenger/crew audio and hearing protection, while maintaining the rugged reliability expected in demanding aviation environments.” He continued, “We developed the new CPX system in close collaboration with operators and validated it through extensive, realworld testing to ensure uncompromising reliability. The result is a robust, fully aviationqualified platform that significantly enhances safety, reduces cabin noise exposure, and elevates the overall passenger and crew experience.”
Chief Product Officer (CPO) Per Eirik Heimdal added, “The CPX communication system takes wireless intercommunication to a new level by integrating the communication link directly into the headset itself, eliminating the need for any handheld control module. This streamlined, cablefree design gives users total freedom of movement while maintaining crystalclear connectivity throughout the cabin. With intuitive HMI buttons built directly onto the headset, users gain full control of audio modes, volume, and communication functions at their fingertips—no extra hardware, no added complexity. The result is a cleaner cabin, faster operation, and an unmistakably modern user experience that enhances both mission efficiency and passenger comfort.”
A Complete, Certified Wireless Audio Solution
The CPX Wireless System Family initially includes the HS200 and HS250 wireless headsets, the BST250 base station, and the CM220 multiheadset charging module. Together, they create a wireless environment that enables highclarity PA announcements, entertainment audio, inter-passenger and crew communication and reliable state of the art passive hearing protection without the need for passenger login or manual pairing.
Key certified features include:
- Full EASA-qualified system (DO-160G, DO-178C Level D)
- System supports up to 50 users
- Automated PA priority, overriding all audio sources
- Redundant power capability and proven electromagnetic compatibility
- Predictable operational performance and reduced AOG risk
- No frequency license required
Exceptional Passenger Comfort and Hearing Protection
At the center of the system are the Axnes CPX HS200 and HS250 wireless headsets, designed for rugged, allday use and certified to deliver highperformance hearing protection. Where the HS200 is a PA headset and the HS250 a full wireless headset with MEMS microphone.
Features include (during 2026):
- SNR = 33 dB passive attenuation
- ANR capability option
- Hear through capability option
- Comfortable, rugged construction (IP67)
- 12 hours operating time; 600+ charging cycles
- Replaceable cushions and wearing parts, serviceable by the customer
- Builtin music player with 32 hours of content (HS200)
- Bluetooth device integration
Passengers may enjoy silence, listen to onboard entertainment, or connect personal content (future option), with all audio automatically superseded by cockpit announcements.
Designed to Meet and Exceed Operator Requirements
The CPX system was developed in alignment with stringent operational requirements from major offshore and passengertransport operators. Key capabilities include:
- Simple passenger operation with automatic aircraftwide pairing
- System-wide PA broadcast priority
- Robust coverage in all cabin areas
- Easy music or podcast content upload during charging
- Ground charging for 20 headsets via the CM220 module
- Scalable design supporting a mix of up to 50 HS200/HS250s per BST250 base station
