CAL FIRE kicks off aerial fleet conversion to AEM’s MTP136D radio

Kelowna, BC, Canada, June 14, 2025 – Canadian avionics manufacturer, Anodyne Electronics Manufacturing Corp. (AEM), is proud to support the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) with its continued evaluation of the MTP136D P25 aerial firefighting radio for its aircraft fleet.
“We’re honored to be supplying CAL FIRE with the most up-to-date radio on the market,” says Tony Weller, AEM’s Sales and Marketing Director. “Since the radio received United States Forest Service (USFS) approval in February, we’ve seen a significant shift by US-based agencies to arm their aerial teams on the front lines battling wildfires with this easy-to-use and reliable piece of technology.”
CAL FIRE has already purchased more than 60 MTP136D radios, and AEM is working closely to support their evaluation program and schedule.
AEM has also committed to providing CAL FIRE a suite of training systems to ensure the agency and its crews can leverage the radio’s full potential and pilots are confident with its intuitive programming and usability.
Meeting all USFS communications requirements for aerial firefighting use across all U.S. jurisdictions, the MTP136D is a Project 25 Phase 1 compliant VHF FM solution for digital and analog communication on all channels across the 136MHz to 174MHz frequency band.
With an addressable market of more than 3,000 applicable aircraft fit to be upgraded to the MTP136D from existing legacy technology, AEM’s shelves are stocked, and the radio is ready to ship. Call the AEM sales team at 1-888-763-1088 or email [email protected] to place your order, or contact a stocking dealer who are also prepared to support all your mission-critical needs.
