More Power, More Possibilities: Vertical Flight Solutions Earns FAA Approval for EC130 and H125/AS350 Tailboom Lithium-Ion Battery Kits
Vertical Flight Solutions (VFS) by EuroTec has received three new FAA STC approvals for True Blue Power Lithium-Ion Battery Kits installed in the tailboom. The kits are now FAA approved for the TB20 battery in the EC130 and both the TB20/TB30 in the H125/AS350 series helicopters.
EC130 Operators Get Major Upgrade
Until now, the only certified Lithium-Ion option for the EC130 aircraft was the earlier-generation TB17. EC130 operators now have the option to install the TB20 — a newer-generation battery with an optional flex indicator that brings more power and updated features to the cockpit, such as state-of-charge indication. VFS will work with customers who already have the TB17 and are looking to upgrade to the next generation of power.
Two More Options for H125/AS350 Operator
H125/AS350 operators with the Eurocopter Canada LTD (ECL) STC #SH96-31 (TCCA) or #ST00422NY (FAA) which relocates the battery into the tailboom now have a certified option to upgrade to lithium-ion power. Previously limited to older lead-acid or NiCad systems, you can now benefit from the next generation of Lithium-Ion technology through the approved VFS TB20 and TB30 kits.
The TB20 is ideal for operators seeking weight savings—up to 42.5 pounds—without sacrificing performance. For missions that require more power or additional ballast, the TB30 delivers higher output with a slightly heavier battery.

To complement the Lithium-Ion Battery system, VFS offers the optional MD23-104 Digital ACU from Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics. This multi-functional indicator provides pilots with essential real-time data including battery status, state of charge, state of health, voltage, amps, temperature, remaining life, and fault data, all displayed in smooth, high-resolution graphics. Additionally, the MD23-104 provides local time and a flight timer, eliminating the need for a separate clock instrument, streamlining the cockpit and aiding in flight coordination and planning.
