Business jet activity edges up 0.7%, but NBAA-BACE did most of the lifting
WINGX has released its weekly business aviation activity report for Week 43 (Oct 19-25) of 2026. It reported global business jet departures increased 0.7% year over year during Week 43. Activity remains positive over the last four weeks and year to date, with global departures running 3.2% above last year's pace. North America posted 2.2% growth while Europe declined 2.0%, the Middle East fell 11.3% and Central America dropped 25.3%.Aircraft activity is one of the most useful demand indicators available because it reflects actual aircraft usage. Unlike delivery statistics or backlog numbers, it measures aircraft that are actually flying. Owners evaluating charter participation, leaseback opportunities and utilization expectations pay close attention to flying activity because revenue ultimately depends on aircraft moving rather than sitting on ramps. The challenge is interpreting it correctly. A single week of arrivals and departures can be distorted by holidays, weather events, major industry gatherings or calendar shifts. WINGX specifically noted that this year's NBAA-BACE timing affected year-over-year comparisons (for obvious reasons), making the annual comparison less straightforward than it looks. Excluding Nevada, global departures were up just 0.3%, and Weeks 42 and 43 combined were flat (-0.1%). The broader trend continues to point toward an active business aviation market with steady, if uneven, utilization growth. The data show that the market is still growing, but growth has cooled from the 2% to 4% pace of the summer. The four-week trend is +0.7% against +3.2% year to date. Operators planning fleet growth or utilization targets should pay attention to the regional differences as much as the headline totals. The underlying demand picture varies significantly depending on where the aircraft is based and flown. Why it mattersThe slowdown looks real. Growth ran 2% to 4% through the summer and has held at or below 1% for three weeks, and WINGX reports jets listed for sale rose for a third straight week to 1,765. Week 43 was likely boosted by NBAA-BACE timing which makes the week of the show an annual outlier. With the show dates out of both years' comparisons, expect Week 44 to be the next clean read.
