Family succession stories are common in aviation, but relatively few involve manufacturers with a global footprint. Tecnam says it has delivered more than 8,500 aircraft into more than 60 countries, so a leadership transition there reaches distributors, training organizations, fleet operators and aircraft owners around the world. Tecnam announced on Oct. 14 that its Board of Directors has unanimously appointed Giovanni Pascale Langer as CEO. Paolo Pascale Langer, his father and current CEO, will assume the position of President. Both appointments are effective as of Oct. 8, 2026. This is the third generation of the Pascale family to hold operational control of the manufacturer. Giovanni began at Tecnam as an apprentice in aircraft assembly. He has been Managing Director since 2019, leading international sales and overseeing operations at Tecnam US. "In the cockpit, when handing over the controls, we say 'You have control'. Today I say it to Giovanni, with confidence and pride," said Paolo Pascale Langer. "He learned this trade from the ground up and over the years has become a recognized leader by our customers, our partners, and our people, in Italy and around the world. He has the competence, the vision, and the character to keep Tecnam flying with the ambition and determination to go ever further. I will remain by his side." Tecnam now faces the challenge common to many family-controlled manufacturers: preserving the culture and reputation that built the business while continuing to grow in an increasingly competitive global market. The company states that it will be entering a new phase of growth that prioritizes strengthening international positioning, expanding the offer of products and services, accelerating digitalization and evolving industrial processes. These outlined priorities suggest an emphasis on growth and market expansion rather than consolidation or retrenchment. What the CEO change means for Tecnam owners and operators Giovanni Pascale Langer has run Tecnam's international sales and US operations since he became Managing Director in 2019, so the handover looks more like continuity than a change of course. The success of that transition will be measured less by the appointment itself and more by whether Tecnam can translate those priorities into sustained growth across its global customer base.
