Embraer's Phenom 300EV earns triple certification with Autoland
Embraer's Phenom 300EV has received triple certification, making it the first light jet certified with Garmin Emergency Autoland. The approval moves Emergency Autoland out of the handful of smaller airframes that have carried it and into one of business aviation's most established product lines. The light jet has received certification from the FAA, EASA and Brazil's Civil Aviation Authority, Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC). The 300EV is the largest business jet so far equipped with the Autoland system, which will automatically land the jet if the pilot is incapacitated. It also has Embraer's Multi-Purpose Electronic Controller (MEC), which the company claims will reduce pilot workload and simplify maintenance. The jet has an extended range of up to 2,055 nm with four passengers under NBAA IFR reserves, adds approximately 430 pounds of payload capacity to the maximum zero fuel weight and has a cabin altitude of 6,600 ft. Connectivity will be through Gogo Galileo's low-Earth-orbit satellite network. Deliveries for the 300EV are planned for 2028.The 300EV is the biggest airframe to get itGarmin unveiled Autoland in October 2019. Since then it has been certified on the Cirrus Vision Jet and SR pistons, Piper's M600 and M700, Daher's TBM 940 and 960, and, as a retrofit, the Beechcraft King Air 200 and 350. Each is a smaller airframe, and all but the King Airs are owner-flown singles. The 300EV carries the capability into a heavier and faster class than any of them. Why it mattersThe certification hat trick opens all three markets on day one. Embraer managed to dodge the sequenced validations that usually stagger a new type's international availability. First deliveries are not scheduled to begin until 2028, an unusually long window. But that should give Embraer plenty of time to fill up its order books. For better or worse, obtaining a 300EV along with its Autoland capabilities is best filed under "good things come to those who wait."Browse Phenom listings on GlobalAir.com
