NTSB updates U.S. Civil Aviation Accident dashboard to include findings data

The NTSB announced on May 4 that it has updated its U.S. Civil Aviation Accident Dashboard. The Civil Aviation Accident Dashboard provides statistics for US civil aviation accidents starting from 2008. The dashboard now includes findings data from NTSB investigations. The NTSB states this new additions allow users to access the contributing factors identified in aviation accidents and provide better insight into safety trends. It can now serve as an interactive tool for examining accident data, including phases of flight, event details and associated findings. "The integration of findings into the Civil Aviation Accident Dashboard gives users a more complete understanding of why accidents occur," said Akbar Sultan, director of the NTSB Office of Research and Engineering. "This enhancement supports our mission to improve transportation safety by making critical investigative data more accessible and easier to analyze." It was first introduced in 2023 and its functions have been incorporated into the Civil Aviation Accident Dashboard. The comprehensive dashboard is available on the Statistical Reviews section of the NTSB website.
