Dassault Aviation has announced the new Falcon 10X business jet on Tuesday at its new production hall in Bordeaux-Mérignac in front of more than 400 customers, partners and aviation leaders. "The objective," says Dassault CEO Eric Trappier, "is to allow passengers to experience time on board the aircraft as just another part of their everyday life, not as a long interval between origin and destination. So they arrive feeling refreshed and at their very best." The company claims the jet has the largest and most versatile cabin ever in a purpose-built business jet. The cabin is 9ft 1in wide and 6ft 8in tall, making the interior eight inches wider and two inches taller than its nearest competitor. Cabin pressure will be maintained at 3,000 ft while at a cruising altitude of 41,000 ft. Customers can configure it in three- or four-zone interiors, including dining areas, privacy Suites, full-size bedrooms and shower installations. Dassault states the options allow owners to design interiors that feel like a modern living or working environment instead of an aircraft. The Falcon 10X will have a top speed of .925 Mach and has a maximum range of 7,500 nm. The jet will also have business aviation's first all-composite wing. It combines Dassault high-lift devices with a next-generation composite architecture, which the company claims improves aerodynamic efficiency while reducing weight. Dassault is the only manufacturer in the world designing and building both advanced fighter jets and business aircraft, which it claims to use to its advantage in the creation of the Falcon 10X."Dassault Falcons have always been at the vanguard of business aviation," said Trappier, "and the 10X is no exception, embodying the very best technology available today. From the user perspective, the equation is simple: an objectively better experience." Dassault claims the NeXus flight deck is the most advanced cockpit ever installed in a business jet with large touchscreen displays, automation tools to manage complex missions and a dual FalconEyeÒ Enhanced Vision System. The DFCS is integrated with a Smart Throttle and is inspired by the controls of the Rafale fighter jet. It automatically manages both engines through a single control while assisting with functions like climbing and go-arounds. Dassault plans on moving on to flight testing the Falcon 10X soon. Once airborne, the aircraft will begin an extensive evaluation campaign designed to validate its performance
