Pilatus delivers first PC-12 PRO Aeromedical to Australia
Pilatus announced on Wednesday that it has delivered the first of five brand-new PC-12 PROs for delivery to the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) Central Operations.
The aircraft is the world's first PC-12 PRO in aeromedical configuration. It has a large cargo door and lift system to facilitate quick and easy patient loading and a nine meter, pressurized cabin to comfortably accommodate patients, crew and medical equipment. It also the Garmin 3000 avionics system and a suite of safety features, like the new Safety Autoland System.
"The PC-12 has an outstanding safety record, and a proven history of reliability operating in the diverse and challenging environments where we deliver services, from southern Australia to the tropics in the Top End," said RFDS SA/NT Chief Executive Tony Vaughan ASM. "It will strengthen our fleet reliability and our ability to respond quickly, safely and efficiently."
The PC-12 PRO and the following four additional aircraft will be part of the Central Operations fleet. They will regularly fly through the central corridor of South Australia and the Northern Territory to provide medical care to the country's most remote regions.
