Sheltair opens new MRO hangar at Tampa International airport
Tampa International Airport (TPA) officials announced on Thursday that Sheltair Aviation has opened a new hangar at the airport.
The new MRO facility has 50,880 sq. ft of hangar space, 8,344 sq. ft of office and shop space and a 50,000 sq. ft apron for staging and fueling aircraft. It is located on the north side of Runway 10-28 and can accommodate large-cabin and narrow-body aircraft. Additional features include a special tail door systemfor larger airframes and a foam fire suppression system.
"The opening of this new hangar facility is another clear indicator of the continued growth of general aviation at Tampa International Airport," said Brett Fay, TPA VP of general aviation. "Sheltair's newest investment responds directly to increasing demand while enhancing the level of service and infrastructure available to our customers. We appreciate their ongoing confidence in TPA and the Tampa Bay market and we look forward to supporting their continued success."
Sheltair's last large expansion was in 2023 with a four-hangar addition to its main complex on the south side of TPA's crosswind runway. In total, the airport now has nine hangar complexes.
