Bombardier plans to expand its manufacturing footprint in Dorval, Quebec, Canada, with a new 126,000-square-foot production facility. It's part of a $100 million investment aimed at supporting growing demand for its business aircraft globally. The new manufacturing center, located near Bombardier's Challenger aircraft facility and the Laurent Beaudoin Completion Centre, is expected to open before the end of 2027. Bombardier said the facility will increase production capacity and improve productivity. It will also create skilled jobs in the region. To support the project, Quebec's government will provide a $35 million repayable loan through Investissement Québec's ESSOR program. Christine Fréchette, Quebec's minister of economy, innovation, and energy, announced the funding during an event held at Bombardier's Dorval site. Bombardier's Executive Vice President of Executive Vice President, Manufacturing, IT, and Bombardier Operational Excellence System, David Murray, said the expansion is designed to help the company keep pace with rising demands. "This major investment demonstrates our commitment to support Bombardier's growth and build the infrastructure we need to maximize our productivity," Murray said. "As we expand our manufacturing capacity, we're positioning ourselves to keep up with global demand and solidify our position at the top of the business aviation industry." Fréchette said the investment will benefit Quebec's aerospace sector and broader supply chain. "By supporting the expansion of Bombardier, a world-class prime contractor, our government is generating significant economic benefits for the entire Quebec supply chain and for the aerospace cluster. This investment will also lead to the creation of hundreds of highly skilled, well-paid jobs, while strengthening Quebec's expertise," she said. "Thanks to its know-how and its capacity for innovation, Bombardier is helping to consolidate Quebec's global position in this strategic sector, and I am very proud to support this homegrown company," Bombardier said the Dorval expansion is part of its long-term growth strategy. According to a PwC study commissioned by the company, Bombardier contributed $7.4 billion to Canada's GDP in 2024 and supported 50,000 jobs nationwide. In Quebec, the company employs nearly 10,000 people directly and accounts for more than 31% of aerospace employment, the study found. *All figures are in Canadian dollars.
