Cirrus delivers its 11,000th SR series aircraft with exclusive design
Cirrus announced on Dec. 17 that it has delivered its 11,000th SR Series aircraft.
The 11,000 features an exclusive design to commemorate the milestone. Cirrus Xi Design Studio designed the aircraft, stating that it took inspiration from forward-looking trends, the art of movement and elevated luxurious colors and materials. The exterior is painted a dark green with the number 11 painted on the fuselage and tail. The cabin uses green and gray with materials like matte carbon fiber to create a sophisticated and comfortable space.
"Delivering 11,000 SR Series aircraft is an incredible milestone for Cirrus," said CEO of Cirrus, Zean Nielsen. "Cirrus is the third largest aircraft manufacturer in the world, and our aircraft feature cutting-edge innovations including the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System™ (CAPS™), Perspective Touch+™ avionics and Safe Return Emergency Autoland, which continue to raise the industry benchmark and keep people flying with confidence."RELATED STORIES:Garmin Autoland used for first time in emergency landing in ColoradoCirrus introduces new trade-in and upgrade program to simplify aircraft purchasesCirrus delivers first SR Series G7+ flight training fleet to Texas Southern
The SR series began in 1999 and is the best-selling high-performance single-engine piston aircraft for over two decades. The newest model, the SR Series G7+, features the Safe Return Emergency Autoland. In an emergency, anyone in the cabin can activate the system using a single button. It will then pilot the aircraft to the nearest suitable airport and autonomously land the aircraft. The system is the world's first FAA-certified autonomous emergency landing system in a single-engine piston. The G7+ aircraft also features automatic database updates and runway occupancy awareness.
