A private aircraft crashed on Monday into a automotive warehouse in Toluca, Mexico, while attempting an emergency landing. The Cessna 650 Citation III (XA-PRO) crashed approximately 2.7 km from the Licenciado Adolfo López Mateos International Airport (TLC). It had taken off from the Acapulco-Alvarez International Airport (ACA) at 11:55 a.m. and was cleared to land at runway 33 at TLC when the flight radioed that it was going around. The aircraft descended into a left-hand turn until it crashed at around 12:30 p.m., according to Aviation Safety Network. All 10 individuals on board died, including three children under the age of 10, according to Aerotime. The post-crash fire took over two hours to extinguish, and four surrounding blocks were evacuated due to nearby gas and fuel tanks, according to Times Now News. Mexico State Civil Protection Coordinator Adrián Hernández stated that the aircraft was attempting to land on a soccer field before the collision. It is unknown what caused the crash, but investigators are reportedly concentrating on the possibility that an engine issue was the cause, according to Aerotime. An earlier version of this article incorrectly referred to a different Citation model.
