Bombardier receives FAA certification for Global 8000 business jet
Bombardier has announced that its ultra-long-range Global 8000 business jet has received FAA certification.
The company claims the Global 8000 is the world's fastest business aircraft, with a top speed of Mach 0.95. It has already received Transport Canada (TC) Type Certification on Nov. 5 and entered into service in December. The company delivered the first Global 8000 on Dec. 8 to Canadian businessman and longtime Bombardier customer, Patrick Dovigi. The aircraft is operated by Chartright Air Group. Certification from the EASA is still pending, according to the company.
"This accomplishment is a direct result of the commitment to excellence and dedicated work of our highly skilled employees, suppliers, Transport Canada and the FAA for a collaborative, effective process," said Stephen McCullough, senior VP of engineering and product development at Bombardier. "Attaining the Global 8000 certification from the FAA sets new performance standards in the industry and marks one of the final chapters in our very successful development program for this groundbreaking business jet."
