Construction begins on new $2.3M hangar in Oklahoma

The Guymon Municipal Airport (GUY) and the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics (ODAA) announced on Nov. 17 that construction has begun on a new hangar. The 120 ft by 100 ft hangar is estimated to $2.3 million. The ODAA will contribute $920,000, the the local airport sponsor will cover $115,000 and the FAA will provide $1.3 million. The construction is part of the ODAA Statewide Hangar Program, which aims to address the shortage of hangar space, expand aviation business opportunities and increase revenue-generating storage at airports."With Guymon's upcoming hangar construction, we're strategically addressing the need to improve access to essential hangar space in Oklahoma's panhandle," said ODAA executive director Grayson Ardies. "By supporting more traffic and encouraging longer stays, we are directly boosting the airport's revenue potential and overall vitality." "The construction of our new transient hangar marks a major milestone for the Guymon Municipal Airport and for the continued growth of our community," said Micheal W. Shannon, Guymon city manager. This facility gives us the ability to safely accommodate jet aircraft, support business travel, and attract new economic opportunities to the region. It's an investment in our future—one that enhances our infrastructure, strengthens our local economy, and ensures Guymon remains a competitive and welcoming destination for aviation."
