Virtual flight simulator and training author tool introduced by Boeing
Boeing has announced the launch of its Virtual Airplane Procedures Trainer (VAPT) at the European Aviation Training Summit.
The first application in the VAPT's product suite is the Procedures Trainer, which provides high-fidelity simulations and an intuitive authoring tool. The simulations can be used on lightweight devices to help standardize training and reduce simulator familiarization time before working with flight training devices. The authoring tool helps training operators manage content within their training programs. Airlines should also be able to launch or change procedures instantly to their pilot pool using the authoring tool.
"We're very excited about the launch of Virtual Airplane. This new software will significantly impact how and when pilots and operators train and will provide them with much-needed flexibility," said Chris Raymond, CEO of Boeing Global Services. "This new platform reflects Boeing's commitment to digital innovation as we seek to leverage the latest technologies to improve our offerings and outcomes for our customers."

The VAPT is powered by Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Flight Simulator and is designed to elevate pilot learning and readiness with immersive and accessible tools. It is currently available for use on computers and iPad devices for Boeing 737 MAX, with additional Boeing models being planned for a later date.
"The launch of Virtual Airplane underscores our commitment to pilot training and enhancing aviation safety," said Chris Broom, VP of Boeing Global Services Commercial Training Solutions. "With this product, pilots can hone their skills and training operators can tailor lessons to meet individual and organizational needs."
