Position Summary:
HVA, Inc. (A Ryker Company – www.rykerholdings.com) is searching for a Director of Maintenance to become part of a team that provides a critical service to the nation’s infrastructure. HVA, Inc. is a Transmission Line and Aviation contractor that provides repair and inspection services to the electric utility industry working across the U.S.
The Director of Maintenance (DOM) is responsible for the oversight and direction of all maintenance operations as we position for growth of the company’s fleet of MD 500 helicopters. This includes compliance with FAA regulations, company policies, and industry standards. The DOM ensures the airworthiness, availability, and safety of all aircraft through effective planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance, inspections, and repairs. The role demands strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight of all aircraft maintenance activities, including line and heavy maintenance, inspections, repairs, and modifications.
- Ensure full compliance with FAA regulations, company policies, and OEM maintenance requirements.
- Supervise and mentor maintenance personnel, including mechanics, inspectors, and support staff; ensure appropriate training and certification.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records in accordance with regulatory and internal standards.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules to minimize aircraft downtime and maximize operational readiness.
- Serve as the primary liaison with the FAA, manufacturers, and vendors on maintenance and airworthiness issues.
- Oversee the maintenance budget, including cost control, procurement of parts, and vendor negotiations.
- Develop and maintain Safety Management System (SMS) protocols within the maintenance department.
- Lead internal audits, compliance reviews, and corrective action planning.
- Participate in fleet planning, aircraft acquisitions, and long-term maintenance strategies.
Qualifications:
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license required. IA (Inspection Authorization) preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of helicopter maintenance experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of FAA regulations, OEM technical data, and industry best practices.
- Experience with rotorcraft MD 500 required. Experience with UH-60 a plus.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with maintenance tracking software.
- Supplemental training and coursework in aviation maintenance, aerospace engineering, or a related field preferred.
Work Environment & Conditions:
- Remote or on-site, Charleston, WV. Responsible for regular communication to Executive Team.
- Travel to remote bases or field locations.
- Must be available for emergency maintenance coordination and AOG (Aircraft on Ground) situations.
