Come learn an important part of the Boca Raton Airport history. Learn about what happened during World War II. Guest Speaker Thomas Wood, a retired Boca Raton Fire Chief, will discuss the history of the Boca Raton Army Air Force from 1942 to 1959 with a special emphasis on the field's fire department and many of the incidents they handled. He will concentrate on the most significant incident, a crash of a Lockheed B-34 on May 12, 1944. Thomas Wood served in the Boca Raton Fire Department for 47.5 years, with 15 years of those serving as the Fire Chief.
