The NBAA announced that FAA Deputy Administrator Katie Thomson and NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy will be participating in a panel discussion during the Day 1 Keynote session at 2023 NBAA-BACE. The convention is taking place Oct. 17-19 in Las Vegas and the Day 1 Keynote will begin at 8:30 am on Tuesday Oct. 17. Among the discussion topics is the FAA reauthorization in Congress. This year, the House of Representatives passed a reauthorization bill containing numerous NBAA-supported provisions like the first-ever general aviation title to recognize the sector's role in the country's economy and transportation system. The bill also introduced several targeted improvements to increase the efficiency of the FAA. The Senate is continuing work on the legislation and the FAA authorization has been extended until Dec. 31 thanks to an extension passed on Sept. 30.RELATED STORIES:Short-term funding bill extends FAA authorizationFAA panelists say complacency jeopardizes aviation safety Safety is a key priority among regulators and industry members.
