PAC International Customizes new Bell 407GXi for Anne Arundel County

24 June 2021 ­– Mount Pleasant – Pa. - PAC International recently completed a new Bell 407GXi helicopter for the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Aviation Unit. The aircraft was delivered with a full law enforcement configuration to include AAI enlarged instrument panel, polycarbonate windshields, nightscanner searchlight, rappel & fast rope insertion systems, high visibility crew windows, and cabin sliding doors. PAC also installed an Air Comm heat and air conditioning system, Aero Dynamix supplemental NVIS lighting, Garmin traffic, XM weather and ADS-B, Eagle digital audio system, Rhotheta Direction Finder, and TDFM9100 / APX8500 tactical communications.

Epic Flight Academy Reduces Training Time with Frasca Motion Simulator

Frasca International & Epic Flight Academy have collaborated to create a new modernized ab-initio program utilizing Frasca MCS simulator (motion cueing system) and Epic Fight Academy pilot training curriculum.  The program with a focus on enhancing the private pilot portion of training has proven successful, students who complete the program earn their private pilot’s license with only 35 to 40 aircraft hours, which is 50% less than the national average of above 70 hours in aircraft, some university reporting 100 flight hours.

Safran Helicopter Engines introduce biofuel to its facilities

5 July 2021, Bordes - For the first time, Safran Helicopter Engines has run an Arrano engine using 38% of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at its Bordes plant in SW France. This biofuel was produced from used cooking oil. The ground run marks the first step of a strategy to deploy SAF in engine test cells at all Safran Helicopter Engines plants. By the end of the year, the manufacturer plans to use at least 10% SAF at all its French facilities.

Safran Arrano 1A obtains FAA certification

Arrano is a new-generation turboshaft in the 1,100 to 1,300 shp power range. It integrates the best in aero-engine technologies and offers a 15 % reduction in fuel consumption over other in-service helicopter engines.
