Southern Sky Aviation opens remodeled FBO in Mississippi

Southern Sky Aviation is welcoming traffic back to Trent Lott International Airport (PQL) as the sole FBO and its runway are reopened.Southern Sky moved to the field in 2021 as the runway was under construction and closed to aircraft over 50 feet. After adding nearly four inches of surface asphalt to the 6,500-foot by 150-foot runway, Southern Sky Aviation can now support aircraft up to a Gulfstream or Global, in addition to military aircraft up to a C-130.While the runway was under construction, Souther Sky upgraded its new FBO facilities. The existing 4,300-square-foot terminal building now features new furniture, paint, pilot's lounge and restrooms. The Sky Café was also added to the facility to offer breakfast and lunch options. To streamline fueling, the FBO has acquired a fleet of refuelers, including two jet fuel trucks, an avgas truck, and a self-serve avgas station. Southern Sky will also install a new 20,000-gallon jet fuel tank in mid-March."Southern Sky Aviation is excited the runway at PQL has reopened," said Darryl Brewer, Southern Sky Aviation's president of its FBO division. "We look forward to sharing our freshly updated FBO with the aviation community and our team is ready to provide high quality services to all customers."Southern Sky will host a formal grand re-opening for the public on April 13.In addition to its FBO at PQL, Souther Sky also offers aviation charter, maintenance, management and sales services out of its Birmingham, Alabama, headquarters and charter services at its Atlanta, Georgia, location.
