Gulfstream Aerospace unveils G400 and G800 aircraft

After a slick social media countdown, Gulfstream Aerospace on Monday night announced its next editions to its fleet, the Gulfstream G400 and G800.The G800 is expected to surpass the G700 the longest range aircraft produced by the company. It's projected to be able to seat up to 19 passengers and offers up to four living areas.The G800 is projected to have a range of 8,000 nautical miles at a speed of 0.8 mach.The revamped G400 includes the largest cabin in its class, said Gulfstream President Mark Burns, with a range of 4,200 nautical miles at a speed of Mach 0.85.It will come with options for seating up to nine, 11 or 12 passengers.The announcement took place via live webcast from the aircraft maker's headquarters in Savannah, Georgia.With the tagline "Expect the Unexpected," which had also been used in the days leading up to the announcement as a hashtag on Twitter, the broadcast on the Gulfstream website opened to showcase the other aircraft in the Gulfstream fleet, including a fully outfitted G700, first announced two years ago in Las Vegas.Other models included as part of the display included a Gulfstream G280 and G500.Leading up to the announcement, Burns, recalled the 11 years of rollouts that he has been a part of, including the G700.The big unveiling took place one week ahead of the NBAA-BACE 2021 Convention, where many such announcements take place. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Gulfstream and others say they will have a scaled-back presence at the industry's largest show for business aviation.G800 customer deliveries are anticipated to begin in 2023 and G400 deliveries are anticipated to begin in 2025.
