Duncan Aviation Expands ACA Ionizer Installation Packages

Duncan Aviation has developed Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) and installation packages for the Aviation Clean Air (ACA) ionization system for several aircraft. Previously, the company had developed STCs for Bombardier Global, Bombardier Challenger 300/350, Dassault Falcon 7X, and Dassault Falcon 2000/2000EX aircraft, with optional installation packages that include everything necessary for installing the ACA Ionizer System.Duncan Aviation has also partnered with Peregrine Avionics to develop STCs for the Gulfstream GIV and Challenger Aircraft, both having the option for ACA Ionizer installation packages. Installation packages include the ionizers and Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) parts kits."We want to make it easy for our clients to keep the air in their aircraft as free of harmful pathogens as possible," says Nate Klenke. Throughout the remainder of 2021, the company will continue developing ACA ionization packages for additional aircraft makes and models.Much interest in the systems comes from those wanting to neutralize harmful pathogens like those that cause COVID-19, which can provide peace of mind for people when they fly.Designed to be installed in an aircraft's existing environmental control system, the ACA ionizers operate in the aircraft's ductwork. The ionized hydrogen molecules neutralize pathogens and remove allergens and unpleasant odors, including those from pets, cigarette and cigar smoke, engine exhaust, cooking, lavatories, and volatile organic compounds.Testing conducted by Innovative BioAnalysis in May of 2020 found the ACA ionizer effective at rendering harmless the COVID-19 pathogens. Over 99% of the virus particles were inactivated within 30 minutes. The system was tested and proven to also kill the coronavirus that causes SARS, as well. With the world heading into cold and flu season on top of a pandemic, the ACA Ionizer also deactivates other viral, bacterial, and fungal pathogens, such as those that cause the common cold, flu, MRSA, C. diff, E. coli, pneumonia, polio, and mold.
